Fundamental Personal Money Managment / Investment Book?

tsf_michelle asked:

I am a beginner trying to learn more about money management/investment. Do you recommend any that is easy to comprehend? I wish the book will cover investment planning, basic information regarding stocks, mutual fund, etc, real-estate investment, etc.

My friend recommends “Latino Guide Personal Management” by Laura Castaneda and Laura Castellanos. It covers everything that I am interested and it keeps things very clear and simple and fundamental. The only thing I am not sure is that if it gives accurate information. I read pretty good reviews about it online and wish to see if there are options of other books as well.

Thanks.

BUYING stock does this make you a businessman or woman? (read below)?

atoxyz123 asked:

I think it does becasue a businessman or woman is anyone in management or particularly an owner of a company. Since when you buy stock you are part owner I think that makes you a businessman however if your just trading I think it is an investment so your an investor but if you attend stockholder meetings and participate in the company and try and keep earnings and dividends high then you are a businessman as your doing something with your equity i.e. part ownership….OPINIONS? Where do you draw the line? What do you think?

Financing out of country Property?

ChickenScratch98 asked:

Here is the catch…I want to buy cheap land in another country…but I am unsure of how financing for that would work. I realize that the financing would need to be stateside. (The property is in South America). However, this is my first property and I am only 24. This is property that I want to buy now while cheap and then move there in say 10 years. Maybe use it as investment property and rent it out for now. Any help on this would be greatfully accepted. I take help on any thing related to this. Property management problems, insurance, how to get it financed, and anything else I may not have thought of yet. Thank You!

Jonathan asked:

Hi,

I have a pool of entrepreneurs with great ideas who have come to me in search of business management expertise and investment capital. I have the expertise to manage their businesses, and plan to have them outsource the business adminstration to me. I will gladly except shares in the organizations opposed to direct pay. Any investors out there lacking an outlet? If so, I’d like to make the introductions.

Certified Treasury Professional vs. Chartered Financial Analyst?

ransomedbyfire asked:

I am currently a first-semester senior in college, majoring in finance. This semester, I am taking both an investments class and a cash management class (as well as a corporate finance class). So far, I think, out of the three, I am most interested in Investments and Cash Management. (Coincidentally, I have the same professor for both of them.)

Over this past week or so, this professor has spoken highly of both the CTP and the CFA. At the moment, I’m trying to decide which I want - or both?

What I’ve seen so far about them is this:
CTP: I can get it sooner. It’s cheaper. And it appears to be easier. And, from my research on it, I’ve seen it could lead (after many years of experience) to a CFO position.

CFA: It’s EXPENSIVE. And it’s not as easy. (This could be seen as a good thing, right?) To me, it seems more impressive. (Is this true?) Also, it takes longer to get it.

So, could someone further detail the pros and cons and help me decide which is best for me?
What are the jobs like?
What is pay like over the years?
What if I try to get both?
What college subjects does each focus on (accounting, investments…?)
What are the hours like?
How could I use them together?
What challenges would I face climbing each career ladder?
How does being female influence each career path?

Any other info you think might help is good too.
