I **** my new job (2 weeks!) Help?

Panic Lad asked:

Hate my new job, what to do?

A little bit of background, I graduated in finance in 2004 and quickly landed a job in an investment management firm. Three years later I was still there, as a glorified secretary. I returned to school in ‘07 to pursue an accounting designation and started work in an accounting firm two weeks ago.

I **** it. I have no idea what I am doing. My accounting knowledge (academic) has not transferred over to the real world. Hell, I just worked on a client file (no idea what I am doing. Random clicking), and couldn’t get the balance sheet to balance. I asked my boss on how to do something, wrote it down, returned to my desk clueless. Staring at my notes as if they were written in Greek. I don’t know what to do. I want to quit/get fired because I feel utterly incompetant.
one thing that is extremely frustrating is that I am always doing this. by this I mean taking steps back in hope that they will spring me forward. I want to have my own place etc…and now I fear with all these paycuts, “re-starts” etc…I’ll be a 40-year old living at home **** (I’m 29 now, moved out a few years ago but moved back in last summer)

For that I plan to supplement my Bachelors degree with a business related minor. I am not sure which minor will help me more in my future career : Management or Economics?

Do you want more proof Al Gore is a scammer?

voiceofreason asked:

the carbon credits, the carbon offsets that Algore buys are actually from a company that he owns, and they don’t sell credits to anyone other than him! You can’t buy them off their website. Gore is chairman and founding partner of Generation Investment Management, LLP. That’s a boutique international investment firm that invests other people’s money for a fee in the stocks of green companies. So when Al Gore beats the drum for possible future global warming he’s also drumming up business, and he’s profiteering from hyping the global warming crisis.
-do you still believe in his lies?…..
false allegations?….this info is in the news…you can even find it…if you choose to look!….wake up…take the blinders off

painnothing asked:

Hi, I will be majoring in Finance at the Krannert Management school at Purdue. I have a simple question to you guys. My goal is to work at one of major Investment banking firms at Wall Street. Is it true those firms don’t give a damn about colleges like purdue because it is not well-known?

Will I not be able to get a internship at those firms, such has Goldman Sachs, Merill Lynch, Lehman Brothers, Credit Suisse, and Morgan Stanley because of my school’s bad reputation?

I am really confused right now. Please help me

I got an offer from an international growing investment management firm to work in their Tokyo branch for 4,500,000 YEN / year which equals to $38,000!! A big slap on the face considering the company is pretty reputable on Wall St.
I got another offer in one of the Big 4 accounting firms for $55,000 in the west coast. Which you were me, which one would you choose?

ps. if anyone knows the average salary in Tokyo for finance, that will be a very helpful information.
